Vehicle to Grid Installation

The ElectrAA Ambassadors bring you the complete installation story for the first 62kWh Nissan Leaf to be connected to the UK National Grid.

Teams from Kier, Western Power, Kaluza and OVO Energy came together seamlessly to make this a remarkably smooth installation - especially given that their electricity supply had to be disconnected from their neighbour before work on the V2G installation could commence.

Vehicle to Grid - 3 Months on

This second video clearly demonstrates this is an experiment.  All is not plain sailing - not yet at least!

Vehicle to Grid - 1 Year on with the 62kWh Leaf

This third video examines the statistics, the car's battery and the finances of V2G.

Project Sciurus Trial Insights:

The report of the findings from the trial of over 320 domestic V2G units between 2020 and 2021 is available to download.  The trial of which we were part, resulted in over 320 V2G units being installed in homes throughout the UK.  Using the first UK manufactured V2G chargepoint, a customer App kept customers in control of the charging platform to aggregate and optimise V2G units.  More than 750MWh of energy was offset through V2G during the trial.
